On this 4-Day Fly Bwindi Gorilla Habituation Experience, you will fly to Kisoro airstrip near Bwindi for the gorilla habituation experience and then back to Entebbe. Bwindi Gorilla Habituation experience in gives you up to 4 hours interacting with the great mountain gorillas unlike the regular Gorilla trekking exercise that allows you only an hour in the company of the great apes. The Gorilla Habituation Experience gives you an opportunity to actively participate in training the wild gorillas to become used to the sight of people.
During Bwindi Gorilla Habituation Experience, you will work closely with different groups of people like the trackers, conservationists, journalists, researchers and rangers among others who take a period of about 2 to 3 years to complete this habituation exercise. This experience only restricts the persons to a maximum of 4 each day. Thus bookings for this kind of activity are to be done 6 months prior to the actual habituation day specifically during the months of December all through to March and July to October.
Fly Bwindi Gorilla Habituation Experience detailed itinerary:
Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe
Upon arrival at the airport, you will be welcomed by our driver/guide who will drive you to Hotel No 5 (High end) for an overnight and dinner. Meal plan: Dinner
Day 2: Entebbe – Bwindi
Our guide/driver picks you from your hotel in Entebbe for your transfer to Entebbe International Airport to catch up with a scheduled flight to Bwindi. Flight to Kisoro airstrip departs only in the morning at 0700 arriving at 0810. The flight is about 1 hour and 15 minutes over the lushest highland rain forest on earth, filled with primates and exotic birds, valleys, hilltops, and papyrus swamps. On your arrival to Kisoro Airstrip, you will be transferred with our vehicle to your Lodge.
Check in, have lunch and spend the rest of the afternoon on a community village walk, this gives you an insight into cultures of the people surrounding Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and how they have lived closely with the great apes for years. It also is a great way to directly support the local community. Dinner and overnight stay at Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge (high-end lodge) Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 3: Fly Bwindi Gorilla Habituation Experience
Begin the day with breakfast ready for gorilla trekking, which begins at 8:00 am with a briefing from the UWA staff. Ensure to carry along with you rain jacket, drinking water, snacks, jungle boots, and walking stick. Join the researchers and guides who will lead you inside the jungle to see the shy Primates for a group you have been booked for. Do not forget to take your lunch boxes and all the necessary gear to track the rare Mountain Gorilla, meet the gorillas for up to 4 hours perhaps one of the most exciting wildlife experiences on earth.
The Fly Bwindi Gorilla Habituation Experience will take a day but it’s well worth the effort. Dinner and overnight stay at either Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge (high end lodge) Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 4: Fly back to Entebbe
You only have one flight leaving Kisoro in the morning at 0825 arriving Entebbe at 1125. Your guide will be ready to transfer you to the Airstrip to catch up your return flight from Bwindi to Entebbe for your onward flight to your next destination. Meal plan: Breakfast.
