Your fun-filled Uganda family adventure Holiday starts with 3 nights in Jinja on the banks of the River Nile you will stay at marvelous Wildwaters Lodge. This area is rapidly becoming the adrenaline sports capital of East Africa with a huge number of activities available from white water rafting and bungee jumping to quad biking and horse riding.
You will then return to Entebbe to catch an internal scheduled flight to Mweya peninsula in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Your family will be staying in two different regions of the park, offering differing landscapes. At Mweya Lodge you will have the opportunity to view a wide variety of animals from game drive vehicles as well as a unique boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Wildlife in the park include lion, elephant, cape buffalo, warthog, leopard, hyena, mongoose, waterbuck, Ugandan Kob, hippo and prolific bird life. Whilst staying at Ishasha Wilderness Camp in the Ishasha sector of the park, look out for the tree climbing lions which are unique to this region.

Pick up from hotel to start your Uganda Family Adventure Holiday, drive to the Wildwaters lodge in Jinja. After lunch take a look around the island, explore the forest, trees plants flowers birds and monkeys and notice the quiet only broken by the sound of the river Nile. There is also the natural River walk and natural river rock swimming pool available for you and your family. Before your dinner the family can take a sunset cruise on the river Nile something the whole family will enjoy before you have your dinner overlooking the river Nile. Wake up to the sounds of the river nile, have your breakfast with views of the rushing river nile. You can go for half day or full day white water rafting up to grade five the choice is your and family to make. If children are 16 or older they can do the white water rafting, for younger children a family float on the Nile can be arranged. Or for the older children something extreme bungee jumping. Other alternatives for today is kayaking, horseback riding along the nile or quad bike through the countryside and villages.
Early breakfast cross to the mainland and then drive to and drive to Fort Portal on day four of Uganda Family Adventure Holiday. You will enjoy a packed lunch to enjoy en-route. Fort portal rests in the shadow of the fabled ‘Mountains of the Moon’ and is famous for her many tea plantations. Today on Uganda Family Adventure Holiday the forest opens its doors for a sensational chimpanzee tracking experience. Following the pre-tracking briefing, you will walk or drive to the trailhead for the start of an unforgettable adventure – hiking in the footsteps of the habituated family of chimpanzees. En-route, your guide will enthral you with stories and facts about the forest and her other inhabitants including other species of primates and birds and other big mammals. Upon sighting the chimpanzees, you will spend an unforgettable one hour with them as they go about their daily life – feeding, playing, grooming, taking care of their young, howling and screeching, in their natural habitat. After your tracking experience you will return back to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you will enjoy a guided nature walk through the Bigodi wetland. The Bigodi Swamp Walk is an initiative of the local community and is known for its rich diversity of birds and primates. The path and board walk maybe flooded and muddy after heavy rainfall and gumboots are recommended. This community walk will bring you closer to the local tribe that lives in this area and is about 4km in length taking 3-4 hours at birding pace. Accompanied by a local guide, who can tell you everything about the traditional customs and lifestyle, you will follow the village path and visit a primary school, traditional homesteads and learn more about the crops in the fields. All proceeds from eco-tourism go back to into the community, a conservation project well worth supporting. Later you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. After an early breakfast, you will be driven to Queen Elizabeth National Park with scenic views of crater lakes and the surrounding rolling hills as well as through banana farmlands, Afterwards, you will proceed south alongside the majestic Rwenzori ‘Mountains of the Moon’ to Queen Elizabeth National park. You will arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon game-drive. Overnight Elephant Plains Lodge (Full board basis)
This morning on Uganda Family Adventure Holiday you will become a researcher for a day, as you learn to use telemetry to find the different lion prides who roam the savannah of Queen Elizabeth NP. There is no better way to find and photograph lions in all of Uganda. The lion is one of the most sought-after safari species, and one of the most impressive to observe. Living in prides of around 15 individuals, lions adhere to strict social structures. Groups consist of related females and their cubs, who are often born around the same time and raised communally. During the drive, the guides and researchers will discuss human-animal conflict in communities around the park, veterinary issues within the park, and lion family dynamics as part of a very in-depth game drive. You will come face to face with the King of the Jungle and you will have stories for a lifetime. After a picnic breakfast you will return to the lodge for some relaxation. In the afternoon you will be taken on a scenic boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a 33km long natural and pre-historic canal that joins Lakes Edward and Lake George. Formed by tectonic activity millions of years ago during the formation of the rift valleys, the canal, 2 to 3kms at its widest, is now the most dominant feature of Queen Elizabeth National Park and one of her key tourist attractions. On this scheduled boat ride over a 12km stretch from Mweya, you will arrive at the bird sanctuary. On the way you are almost always guaranteed excellent wildlife sightings including large pods of hippopotamus, Nile crocodiles, wallowing buffaloes on its reedy banks, elephants, multitudes of birds including many endemics as well as numerous other plains game that come to drink at its water’s edge all day long. After your heavy breakfast, you will depart the northern part of QENP and drive to the southern section in search of the tree climbing lions, with a game drive through the Ishasha side. It is a beautiful route with the Rwenzori Mountains on your right side and the green valley on the left this is one of the most amazing scenic views you will experience, getting there in time for lunch and some rest. Later on Uganda Family Adventure Holiday you will enjoy game drive in search of the tree climbing lions, returning back in time for a beautiful sundowner at the lodge as you watch the sun go down. After breakfast, you’ll depart Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home of the endangered mountain gorillas. Upon arrival you’ll check in to your hotel and enjoy lunch. Take some time to rest before you embark on an evening village walk meeting the locals and engaging with the community. You will arise early today and prepare for the highlight of your Uganda Family Adventure Holiday, an unforgettable encounter with the Gentle Giants- the gorillas! Following breakfast, you will be transferred to the National Park offices where you will be allocated a gorilla family in groups of 8 as well as a gorilla tracking guide. After a pre-tracking briefing by your guide touching on the gorillas generally, your assigned gorilla family as well as appropriate safety precautions, you drive to the trail head for the start of a thrilling adventure. Expect to walk between 2 and 8 hours before you see gorillas in steep and sometimes muddy conditions with rain overhead, which can be tough and require a degree of (average) fitness. However, the thrill of coming face to face with a giant Mountain Gorilla silverback completely makes up for the effort!
